Definition

An organization's innovation trajectory is the direction the recent and current innovation is headed. In a stable environment this is often a suitable trajectory. In the case of a rapidly changing environment, or in the case of discontinuous change in the environment, the firm's innovation trajectory is often not the competitive response the firm needs.
